JA Quebec student company wins 1st place
at JA Youth Success Summit in Calgary, Alberta. |
 |
Quebec student company OBI was named Student Company of the Year for all of Canada at the JA Youth Success Summit. OBI was represented by student delegate Uriel Tirado at the Summit, which took place July 21 to 26, 2019, in Calgary, Alberta.
The JA Youth Success Summit is a national conference on entrepreneurship, drawing Company Program participants (15 to 18 years old) from every province in Canada. After winning the Company of the Year award at the JA Quebec Future Business Leaders Annual Gala on May 16, 2019, OBI was chosen to represent Quebec at JA Canada’s first-ever national championship for student companies. The company, which makes original belts featuring reflective bands, was evaluated based on its shareholders report, product, marketing strategies and oral presentation. After three days of competition and presentations before several juries, OBI saw the fruit of all their hard work as they took home top honours as Canada’s Student Company of the Year!
We'd like to highlight the support of Pierre-Dominique Ancel, a first-time volunteer advisor who helped OBI throughout the entire 2018-2019 program, as well as Alix Vuitton, the Côte-des-Neiges centre supervisor. |

| OBI will move on to the next level of the competition, representing both Quebec and Canada this November at the JA Americas Company of the Year competition in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Congratulations to OBI on their latest success! We’re all very proud of this amazing accomplishment, and to see them showcase Quebec talent to the rest of Canada and beyond!
